A minimum of 733 confirmed measles instances have been documented throughout the country, according to the most recent statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released on Friday.
In a short span, the United States has seen four times the number of cases than what is normally recorded in an entire year, as indicated by the CDC. Prior to last year, when a shocking total of 2,276 cases was reported, the U.S. had an average of 180 annual cases since the disease was deemed eradicated in 2000.
These unprecedented figures emerge while South Carolina is experiencing the largest outbreak noted in recent history.
Other states experiencing cases and managing ongoing outbreaks include Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.
The majority of the outbreaks happening throughout the nation are found in areas with low vaccination rates or where individuals have not been vaccinated.
